Jim Baker is CEO of Xentrans Inc., a California-based technology project management consultancy in the mass transit sector.
Most recently Jim has acted as Program Manager for Next Generation Networks at Amtrak in Washington D.C., overseeing a number of initiatives for cellular, trackside and satellite communications.
Jim project-managed the deployment of Internet connectivity on the light rail system in Silicon Valley, on the Amtrak commuter rail fleet in California, and on the bus fleet of Apple Inc.
Working primarily on behalf of transit agencies, he has authored RFPs for wireless systems on fleets in Chicago, New York, New Jersey, Florida, and San Diego. Jim is also Project Lead on the California Integrated Travel Program (Cal-ITP), a travel planning and ticketing initiative run by the California State Transportation Agency (CalSTA).
A serial entrepreneur, Jim previously founded Moovera Networks (acquired by Icomera of Sweden in 2008) and 21st Century Media (acquired by Media 100 NASDAQ:MDEA in 2000).
