The technology transition from Wi-Fi 5 to Wi-Fi 6 is already well underway and today CommScope delivered yet more momentum to this transition by launching four new Wi-Fi 6-capable enterprise-grade access points delivering from 1.2 to 5.9 Gbps of capacity indoors and out.
Today CommScope launched a total of four new Wi-Fi 6-capable access points bringing the total number of Ruckus-branded Wi-Fi 6 APs to six. The new APs include top-of-the-line R850 (indoor) unit featuring 8×8 MIMO and a total capacity of 5.9 Gbps as well as indoor 4×4 (R650) and 2×2 (R550) units, respectively delivering 3 Gbps and 1.8 Gbps.
The launch also includes a new 4×4 outdoor AP called T750SE featuring sectorised antennas to “surgically deliver bandwidth to seating in stadiums and other large venues,” CommScope says. CommScope also says the new APs are “optimized for highly dense environments such as educational campuses, hotels and other venues such as airports and stadiums” in their press release here.

CommScope also points out that all of the Wi-Fi 6 APs support the ‘Ruckus Analytics’ service assurance and network intelligence Cloud service – which is CommScope’s solution for providing insights into network health and client troubleshooting. All of CommScope’s Wi-Fi 6-capable APs also include configurable BLE and Zigbee IoT radios for converged and ’embedded’ IoT.
The full lineup of CommScope (Ruckus) Wi-Fi 6 APs is as of today as follows:
- R850: Wi-Fi 6, 8×8:8 indoor AP with 5.9 Gbps speed
- R750: Wi-Fi 6, 4×4:4 indoor AP with 3.5 Gbps speed (released previously)
- R650: Wi-Fi 6, 4×4:4 indoor AP with 3 Gbps speed
- R550: Wi-Fi 6, 2×2:2 indoor AP with 1.8 Gbps speed
- T750: Wi-Fi 6, 4×4:4 outdoor AP with 3.5 Gbps speed (released previously)
- T750SE: a Wi-Fi 6 4×4:4 outdoor AP with 3.5 Gbps speed, sectorised antennas
CommScope uses Qualcomm Wi-Fi 6 chipsets to power their Wi-Fi 6-capable access points.
