Wi-Fi Evolution
In this session, we shall cover some of the important technologies impacting Wi-Fi evolution. The 6 GHz spectrum has come as a boon to the unlicensed community and Wi-Fi 6E certification has been launched to cover this band. We shall discuss the various spectrum/power and protocol related matters specific to the 6 GHz spectrum. We will also cover various product related challenges in incorporating the 6 GHz band.
Allied technologies which are of interest to ISPs and others in the Wi-Fi area are Matter and Wi-Fi sensing which is likely to impact the future Wi-Fi products. Evolution of the backhaul in multi-AP environments using easymesh is also likely to be of importance. Other important areas include location and privacy enhancing initiatives.
The IEEE 802.11be standard has achieved important milestones and is likely to be christened as Wi-Fi 7. Important technical features of this standard include multi-link and multi-RU usage which can be useful to improve Wi-Fi performance.
In addition to higher rates, latency has also become important for future VR/AR/XR applications. We shall cover all the major technical aspects of the upcoming standard and analyse the impact in products. We shall give a glimpse of the objectives of the next generation of standards leading to Wi-Fi 8.
