The World WLAN Application Alliance (WAA), the world’s first international industry and standards organization dedicated to WLAN application experience, was established on September 22, 2022. With a vision to “provide the best WLAN experience for the digital world,” WAA is committed to creating an open and international platform for the development of WLAN industries.
WAA has attracted over 70 institutions, organizations, and enterprises from 11 countries and regions worldwide to become members. These include operators, equipment suppliers, testing equipment manufacturers, certification bodies, research institutions, and universities.
WAA’s influence in the industry continues to grow. It has established solid strategic partnerships with numerous organizations including IEEE SA, WBA, Wi-Fi Now, BSI, Sparklink Alliance and Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency. Since April 2024, WAA has collaborated with the International Economic and Technical Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China to jointly establish the “BRICS New Connectivity Sector International Cooperation Committee,” aiming to enhance international recognition and industry acceptance of WAA standards.
Promoting international standardization, facilitating the implementation of testing and certification, and advancing global industry development are core objectives of WAA. Currently, WAA has issued 8 international recommended standards and 2 industry development white papers.
At present, WAA has established a comprehensive testing and certification system, with preparations for testing and certification work ready. China Mobile and the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology have been authorized as WAA testing laboratories, and the China Quality Center has been designated as the WAA certification partner. WAA has fully rolled out testing and certification services.
