Jac Baehler is a former business developer and event program manager at Swisscom Broadcast, Media & Events. Jac began his career with the Swisscom Group in 1989 as a field technician, quickly taking charge of significant fiber migration projects. In 1998, he transitioned to the Swisscom Wholesale team as a sales consultant in Data Business. During Euro 2008, Jac served as Swisscom’s operations manager. Following this, the Swisscom Event Team decided to “stay together,” leading to a successful spin-off in 2010. Jac played a pivotal role in expanding the Swisscom Event team’s international business.
Today, Swisscom is a leader in providing temporary LAN and WIFI coverage for major football tournaments worldwide. A standout achievement was Qatar 2022, where Jac led a team of 70 people over two years to deploy LAN and WIFI infrastructure across all World Cup event locations.
Jac is now an expert in proposing, planning, deploying, and operating temporary network infrastructure for large-scale events worldwide. The main challenge in installing WIFI networks for events, as opposed to corporate environments, lies in the tight timelines (sometimes less than five days for an entire stadium) and the mechanical constraints, which require a balance between branding, devices and cables accessibility, and rapid troubleshooting.
