Dustin Li serves as Special Programs Director for ITDRC, with a focus on projectConnect – a program dedicated to helping to bridge the digital divide, exacerbated by COVID-19, by installing community WiFi access points. He also drives software and toolchain infrastructure development efforts. He has responded with ITDRC to disasters including tornados, floods, hurricanes, and wildfires. Dustin is also a member of the United States federal National Disaster Medical System, providing communications support in medical crises.
Prior to joining ITDRC, Dustin was an operations coordinator for Cisco Tactical Operations (TacOps), a team with a pro-bono mission to deliver emergency communications infrastructure to disasters around the globe. He also served as an international consultant for the United Nations Emergency Telecommunications Cluster (ETC) and the Fast Information Technology & Telecommunications Emergency & Support Team (FITTEST). His missions included Sierra Leone, where connectivity deployments helped to enable thousands of medical professionals and other first responders to tackle the Ebola virus disease crisis.
Dustin has been recognized by several awards, including the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Fellowship, and the Georgia Institute of Technology President’s Fellowship. He holds a patent for rapid biological sample preparation and analysis systems designed for first responders.
