The Wi-Fi infrastructure market continues to expand with total WLAN infrastructure revenues and number of units shipped each growing 7% year-on-year, 650 Group says in their latest WLAN report. In the enterprise segment price inflation is driving revenue growth – not number of units sold – and supply chain disruptions are affecting the top enterprise vendors’ growth rates in a wide variety of ways, says Chris DePuy of 650 Group. Finally: We’re delighted to announce that 650 Group is our new Wi-Fi NOW analyst partner.
WLAN markets continue to grow despite supply chain disruption but the latest analyst report by 650 Group for 1Q22 presents a more complex picture than for years past. Chris DePuy, Technology Analyst at 650 Group, says total WLAN infrastructure revenues grew 7% year-on-year for 1Q22 driven mostly by 14% growth in the enterprise WLAN segment while consumer WLAN revenues stayed flat.
Number of WLAN infrastructure units sold also grew 7% overall but most of this is attributable to consumer WLAN with number of enterprise WLAN units sold growing by only 2%. Chris DePuy says supply chain disruption has impacted the top vendors’ growth rates in wide variety of ways.
“We’ve seen varying growth rates from some of the top enterprise vendors ranging from double-digit year-on-year declines – meaning 1Q22 vs 1Q21 – to triple-digit year-on-year growth. Ubiquiti, for instance, is a vendor whose supply woes have hit hard. On the other hand, Juniper doubled revenues on a year-on-year basis as a result of solid demand,” Chris DePuy says.
