The number of commercially launched Wi-Fi 6E devices by the end of the second quarter this year reached a whopping 792 according to the latest information kindly provided to Wi-Fi NOW by Intel – see the graphic above. Especially the jump in product releases from fourth quarter 2021 to the first two quarters of this year has been impressive. The data certainly offers no indication that vendors are considering skipping ahead to Wi-Fi 7 and ignoring Wi-Fi 6E.
In particular the number of PCs released with Wi-Fi 6E capability (633) has been impressive (both laptop and desktop versions). Currently 61 smartphone models support Wi-Fi 6E while 77 routers and APs (designated RTR/AP on the graph) have been released into the markets.
