Solutions for home Wi-Fi QoE are often part of a wider software solution for ISP operations that include a variety of functions and features (and sometimes hardware, too). The vendor stated below offer (in some cases) stand-alone QoE systems while also providing a variety of other ISP operational features. Our list is not exhaustive. If you are new to home broadband QoE we recommend you read our technology guide first.

CUJO AI is a provider of AI-powered network intelligence and cybersecurity software for broadband service providers. The company’s platform helps operators understand the behaviour and performance of home networks and connected devices while enabling improved customer experience, operational efficiency, and subscriber-facing digital services.

CUJO AI combines network intelligence, device intelligence, cybersecurity, and AI-driven analytics into a single platform designed for fixed and mobile network operators. The Wi-Fi optimisation service – which is mostly focused on managing latency – was recently added to the portfolio following acquisition of startup Domos. According to the company, its platform is deployed across more than 63 million homes and maintains intelligence on more than 72,000 device models.

CUJO AI uses Quality of Outcome, or QoO, rather than QoE. QoE is commonly associated with traditional network-performance management, while QoO goes further by measuring whether the network actually delivers the outcome required by an application or user. CUJO AI has been a pioneer in developing and advancing this framework, and it is an important part of what differentiates us from other providers. The QoO framework is documented in this IETF draft.

Key capabilities

  • Network intelligence and subscriber experience analytics
  • Connected device identification and classification
  • AI-powered device intelligence
  • Home network visibility
  • Broadband performance analytics
  • Network-based cybersecurity
  • Digital parenting and parental controls
  • Scam and threat protection
  • Subscriber-facing digital services
  • AI-driven operational insights for service providers
  • Support for application deployment on broadband gateways using modern software container technologies

Typical customers

  • Fixed broadband operators
  • Cable operators
  • Fibre broadband providers
  • Mobile operators (in support of 5G FWA home broadband services)
  • Internet service providers (ISPs) generally

CUJO AI’s customer base includes many Tier-1 broadband operators, including Comcast, Charter Communications, Deutsche Telekom, BT/EE, Rogers, TELUS, Cox, Sky UK, and others.

Strengths

CUJO AI’s primary strength lies in its very large network footprint and device intelligence data collection. The platform analyses traffic and device behaviour to provide broadband operators with detailed visibility into home network performance and connected devices. This intelligence underpins services ranging from cybersecurity and parental controls to operational analytics and customer experience improvements.

The company has also been an active participant in the RDK ecosystem since 2019 and has recently demonstrated a containerised deployment model for broadband applications running on RDK-B gateways. This approach enables operators to deploy applications independently of gateway firmware release cycles, potentially accelerating the introduction of new services.

Another differentiator is the breadth of the platform. Instead of offering standalone Wi-Fi optimisation, CUJO AI combines network intelligence, device intelligence, subscriber protection, and operational analytics within a common AI platform.

Considerations

CUJO AI positions itself as a strategic software platform for broadband operators rather than a consumer Wi-Fi application. Much of its value comes from analysing network-wide telemetry and enabling operators to deliver new services, improve customer support, and strengthen subscriber security. Operators seeking a comprehensive AI platform spanning customer experience, cybersecurity, and network intelligence are likely to benefit most from the platform.

Position in the market

CUJO AI is widely recognised as one of the leading suppliers of AI-driven software for broadband service providers. Its solutions compete across several adjacent markets, including subscriber experience management, managed Wi-Fi, device intelligence, and connected-home cybersecurity. Compared with specialist Wi-Fi QoE vendors, CUJO AI places greater emphasis on network intelligence, connected device visibility, and subscriber security alongside customer experience analytics.

Best suited for

CUJO AI is particularly well suited for broadband operators looking to:

  • Gain visibility into connected devices and home networks
  • Improve subscriber experience through AI-driven analytics
  • Deliver value-added cybersecurity services
  • Reduce operational costs through better network intelligence
  • Deploy new broadband applications on modern software platforms such as RDK-B
  • Differentiate broadband offerings through subscriber-facing digital services

WiFi NOW’s Perspective: CUJO AI’s flavour of Wi-Fi optimisation function is mostly focused on delivering low-latency performance based on application awareness. The company has evolved from a connected-home cybersecurity specialist into one a comprehensive AI platform for broadband operators. Its strongest differentiators are its large service footprint, large-scale device intelligence, network analytics, and subscriber protection capabilities, all delivered through a common AI platform. While some competitors focus primarily on Wi-Fi optimisation, CUJO AI addresses a broader set of operator challenges, including customer experience, operational intelligence, and digital service delivery.
