Wi-Fi 6E is already here and Wi-Fi 7 could be less than 6 months away – according to some experts. So how will 6 GHz Wi-Fi technology impact one of the biggest managed services segments in the business? One of the largest MSPs in North America examines this question in a new paper: “Modern Life Requires Transformative WiFi: Enabling the Technology Revolution with 6 GHz and WiFi 7” – download it below.
The first Wi-Fi 7 end-user devices could be less than 6 months away and Wi-Fi 7 technology promises to be another giant leap in connectivity performance. The features of the new standard include wider bands, higher-order modulation, multi-link operation for speed and redundancy, and more. But how will the Wi-Fi 7 impact for example connectivity for hospitality and MDUs?
A new paper by World Cinema (WCI) and Hospitality WiFi – the latter recently acquired by the former – dives into this question. The question is important because one of the largest and most lucrative Wi-Fi market segments – solutions and services for hospitality and multi-dwelling units (MDUs) – is on the cusp of a generational shift in connectivity technology.
“We believe that WiFi 7’s advancements in both spectrum and network intelligence will truly change the way we use Wi-Fi in hotels, providing a greater justification for infrastructure upgrades,” says World Cinema in the paper. The company also says that community-provided Wi-Fi 7 will become the industry standard for MDUs and campus networks – also to enable smart building management.
In the meantime property owners are well advised to prepare by building out fibre-based backbone networks throughout their premises. Conversely – says Word Cinema – “owners that do not keep up with these developments will see the quality and capitalised value of their community suffer.”
