Switzerland’s net+ selects Plume’s ‘WorkPass’ for SMB Wi-Fi services
Plume is mostly known for its home broadband customer experience platform – which includes Cloud-based Wi-Fi optimisation – but the company also provides a similar platform optimised for small businesses called ‘WorkPass’. Today Plume announced that Swiss operator net+ has selected WorkPass to power its ‘WiFiBusiness’ services aimed at small and medium-sized businesses in the region.
Net+ operates in the Western and predominantly French-speaking part of Switzerland. “Plume WorkPass was selected as the premier small business solution partner to provide operational insights and information along with powerful front-end services, including adaptive WiFi, without the cost or complexity of enterprise offerings,” the company says. “World’s best hotel” picks CommScope RUCKUS for Wi-Fi 7 deployment
The transition to Wi-Fi 7 is underway and one of the first hotels to adopt the new Wi-Fi standard is the extravagant and newly reopened Passalacqua hotel located at the shores of Lake Como in northern Italy.
The hotel is deploying RUCKUS R770 APs (no word on how many) supported by RUCKUS AI to serve their guests with a very high quality Wi-Fi service, presumably to match the Passalacqua’s status as ‘the world’s best hotel’ according to a list published by this organisation last year.
CommScope RUCKUS has consistently been announcing new Wi-Fi 7 deployments starting early this year where they were – as far as we know – the first enterprise Wi-Fi vendor to deploy a live public Wi-Fi 7 network together with Boingo at CES in Las Vegas.
New NETGEAR DOCSIS 3.1 router a key component of better Wi-Fi
The Wi-Fi inside your home can’t be faster than your router and now NETGEAR is making sure your cable connection can support faster speeds. NETGEAR’s new Nighthawk CM3000 cable modem is a so-called ‘mid/high split’ unit delivering up to 2.5 Gbps of Internet speed including up to 800 Mbps (mid split) or 1.8 Gbps (high split) upstream.
The new modem is especially relevant for Xfinity subscribers as Comcast began deploying mid split service for third party devices from last September, NETGEAR says. The CM3000 is one of a small handful of models certified by Xfinity and can be paired with any NETGEAR Wi-Fi router or mesh system including for example the Orbi Wi-Fi 7 Mesh system or the Nighthawk Wi-Fi 7 router. The CM3000 is available for purchase here for US$299.99.
Wi-Fi HaLow leader Morse Micro lands distributor deal with Mouser Electronics
Morse Micro continues to expand the Wi-Fi HaLow ecosystem and this week the company entered into a distributor agreement with Texas-based Mouser Electronics. Mouser has been a global distributor of semiconductors and electronic components since 1964 and today represents over 1,200 manufacturer brands, the company says. Mouser will be carrying Morse Micro’s Wi-Fi HaLow SoC’s and modules – such as the MM6108-MF08651-US – as well as the MM6108-EKH03 developer platform. Morse Micro’s MM6108 Wi-Fi HaLow chip delivers up to 43 Mbps of data rate and single chip can support thousands of IoT devices. Morse Micro recently demonstrated how Wi-Fi HaLow technology is capable of delivering Wi-Fi connectivity over a distance of 3 kilometres.
