By Claus Hetting, Wi-Fi NOW CEO & Chairman
This year is already off to a flying start and we’re delighted that so many outstanding Wi-Fi companies big and small have chosen to work with us in 2024. Here – in no particular order – are seven new additions to our Wi-Fi NOW partnership list, which we believe is the world’s premier community of Wi-Fi industry leaders. We will of course be working closely with all our partners new and old through the year to showcase their outstanding contributions to the industry.
The big chipset companies are the linchpins of the industry – and while we’ve been working with Qualcomm and Intel for years, we’re super excited that MediaTek has now also chosen to work with us. The Taiwan-based silicon giant’s meteoric rise over the past few years has been something to behold. Competition is the lifeblood of innovation and MediaTek is certainly providing it. We’re also delighted that MediaTek is joining our WWC event series this year, starting with WWC Sarasota in April.
Not every IT department wants to work with enterprise networking giants, and smaller or lesser known Wi-Fi solution providers are often excellent choices when it comes to service, delivery capability, responsiveness, and agility. Late last year both EnGenius and Zyxel Networks joined our partnership program and both are now providing highly competitive (as well as cost-effective) Wi-Fi 7 solutions. If you don’t know them, you should look into them now.
There’s also plenty of Wi-Fi activity across Asia – in fact, Asia is probably the most important region as far as public Wi-Fi hotspots are concerned. One of the software platform leaders for the region is Hong Kong-based fanswifi, a company that has grown to a formidable size in only a few years. Fanswifi is rolling out Wi-Fi social media and monetization solutions across much of the region and growing fast.
Among the startups we’re particularly impressed with is Canada-based newcomer LATYS. Their technology is a fascinating new take on how to optimise radio network propagation using RF lenses and mirrors – read more about them here. Within the last few weeks we’ve also signed up NetAlly as our new official network testing partner as well as security and content-filtering leader DNSFilter. You can meet them all at WWC Sarasota and we’ll be covering them in detail shortly – so watch this space.
