New Wi-Fi 7 APs and client devices – powered by Qualcomm
Arista is intent on making inroads into the Wi-Fi 7 market and has just released their first Wi-Fi 7 product, the C-460. The AP is powered by the Qualcomm Networking Pro 1220 platform. Meanwhile in Japan, IO-DATA has unveiled a 6-stream, tri-band Wi-Fi 7 router for the home delivering close to 6 Gbps of speed. The router is powered by Qualcomm’s Immersive Home 326 platform. In the gaming world the appetite for routers seems insatiable, and ASUS keeps churning out impressive products. The latest is dubbed “TUF Little Tornado Pro BE6500” and is aimed at the Chinese market. Finally, new phones Motorola Edge 50 and Ayaneo Pocket S are both powered by Qualcomm’s FastConnect 7800.
Wi-Fi sensing leader Cognitive Systems teams up with Electronic Caregiver
Keeping a watchful – but unobtrusive – eye on the elderly has long been an important use case for Wi-Fi sensing, and now Wi-Fi sensing leader Cognitive Systems is teaming up with Electronic Caregiver to bring the application fully to market. US-based Electronic Caregiver (ECG) is a senior living health services provider twice named to the Inc. 5000 fastest growing private companies in the US, the company says.
ECG says Cognitive System’s WiFi Motion technology will empower caregivers and offer a non-intrusive solution to monitor and care for seniors. “The CareAware™ product complements ECG’s Addison Care solution to provide unmatched insights and engagement for seniors, family caregivers, and clinical professions,” ECG says. Astound Business solutions selects eero for enterprise Wi-Fi services
New Jersey-based Astound Business Solutions – a US nationwide provider of connectivity solutions for businesses – has selected mesh Wi-Fi pioneers eero to power its Wi-Fi Pro for Small Businesses solution. The new service – which is an upgrade from its existing eero-powered ‘Whole Business Wi-Fi’ service – delivers “fast, reliable, and secure Wi-Fi networking for business of up to 50 employees,” the company says. Astound’s SMB Wi-Fi solutions start at US$19.95 a month.
Astound says the solution includes custom ‘eero for business’ features: Brandable captive portal with splash page, multiple SSIDs, expandable coverage using eero’s TrueMesh technology, and more. The new Wi-Fi Pro service is powered by the eero Max 7 (a Wi-Fi 7-capable mesh router) or the eero Pro 6E (a Wi-Fi 6E-capable mesh router). Astound says it manages all licensing, network management, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Read more here.
T-Mobile selects Airties for smart managed Wi-Fi
Airties – provider of intelligent managed Wi-Fi solutions for the home – has landed T-Mobile USA as a client. The company announced in a press release that it is “deploying Airties’ suite of Smart Wi-Fi software to T-Mobile 5G Home Internet customers across the United States, including for T-Mobile’s new Home Internet Plus plan, to help further optimise the broadband experience.” The deal is a huge win for Airties as T-Mobile’s 5G-based home broadband services grab market share across the country.
