Morse Micro launches ‘Design Partner’ program
At Embedded World this week, Wi-Fi HaLow SoC leader Morse Micro released a new ‘design partner’ program as an initiative “built to accelerate the commercialisation of production-ready Wi-Fi HaLow solutions,” the company said in a press release here. Participants will benefit from direct engineering engagement during the design phase, early access to documentation, join go-to-market activities, and a range of other collaborative services from Morse Micro. “The program complements Morse Micro’s Approved Module Partner Program and marks a major step in scaling the global Wi-Fi HaLow ecosystem. Rollout begins in Q1 2026, with partner qualification and onboarding now underway,” the company says.
Qualcomm demonstrates battery-less Wi-Fi operation at Embedded World
Synaptics may have stolen most of the attention at Embedded World this year (read our detailed coverage here) – but that didn’t stop Qualcomm from making a significant splash, too. The company revealed a demo where the QCC730 ultra-low power Wi-Fi chip was powered by ambient light in a battery-less setup (also see the video below). We don’t now yet how practical this is but it does demonstrate that the QCC730 – which was released in 2024 – is indeed ultra-low power and there’s no doubt that ambient power devices will become a thing sooner rather than later. We wrote about the QCC730 here in 2024.
Dell’Oro: Cisco jumps out in front on Wi-Fi 7 revenue
Dell’Oro Group has released its quarterly WLAN Report citing Cisco as the leader in Wi-Fi 7 revenue ahead of Huawei. Research Director Sian Morgan says Cisco’s Wi-Fi 7 adoption has been faster than any previous Wi-Fi technology ramp-ups but that there’s still a lot of runway for Wi-Fi 7 adoption within the enterprise. Dell’Oro is forecasting double-digit growth for enterprise WLAN in 2026 but points out that aggressive AI rollouts have all but depleted stocks of DDR4 memory chips used in most WLAN APs. Meanwhile Ubiquiti is rising in the WLAN market share rankings while financial and professional services remains the largest enterprise networking vertical in 2025.
