Can ISPs achieve meaningful reductions in support costs by leveraging AI-based tools and features? If you ask mesh Wi-Fi pioneer eero, the answer is a resounding yes. This week, eero expanded its Insight Cloud-based management platform with features for AI-powered troubleshooting and near-instantaneous network health analysis. The company says it expects the new capabilities to reduce support escalations by more than 30% by giving frontline support agents direct access to years of accumulated troubleshooting knowledge via AI.
AI operations platforms are seemingly everywhere – which means the industry’s challenge is now arguably shifting towards converting AI capabilities into tangible business results. This week, Amazon’s eero introduced a set of AI-based features aimed at helping ISPs reduce support costs and improve customer satisfaction. The features are designed to provide eero ISP customers with tools for faster troubleshooting and better customer support outcomes. Currently, eero delivers home Wi-Fi solutions to more than 200 service providers in 30 countries, the company says.

The solution is purpose-built for networking and draws on two main sources of data: Real-time network data, as well as best practices and runbooks accumulated over many years. The runbooks come directly from eero’s customer experience team, the in-house support organisation that handles consumer troubleshooting calls. That team has also worked alongside engineering throughout the development process, eero says. Its day-to-day experience of the issues customers actually call about has helped shape what the new AI support feature needs to know and how it should respond. The company says this puts it in a strong position to transfer years of support experience – and the expertise behind its high customer satisfaction rates – to its ISP customers.
“We’ve developed AI agents that interpret live network data and resolve issues in real time, drawing on the proven troubleshooting methodologies our internal support team has refined over years of operation. The combination of real-time telemetry and deep domain expertise gives our AI agents an unprecedented level of context, enabling them to deliver frontline support with the precision and consistency of our best human specialists. For our ISP partners, this means immediate access to the same accumulated Wi-Fi expertise that has driven eero’s consistently high customer satisfaction rates,” says Ashwath Krishnan, Product Leader at Amazon eero.
Instant network health check & corrective actions
The new release has two main components: The first is an AI troubleshooting agent that allows customer-support staff to query the network using a ChatGPT-style interface. “This feature acts as a Tier 2 expert for ISP front-line support agents, running full diagnostics on a customer’s network, identifying root causes ranging from WAN connectivity and mesh topology to device-level health, and recommending or executing corrective action. The second is what we call ‘Highlights’: An AI-generated network health snapshot that appears on the dashboard, giving customer-support agents instant visibility into what’s happening on a customer’s network before they even begin asking questions – reducing call times, minimising escalations, and increasing agent productivity,” Ashwath Krishnan says.
“In seconds, AI-powered troubleshooting can run a full health check consolidating network status, device health, firmware, outage history, mesh connectivity, and connected devices in one response. It identifies hardware-level bottlenecks, diagnoses SSID conflicts, channel congestion, and signal issues, detects packet loops caused by third-party devices, and provides step-by-step guided resolution,” he says.
Faster and more effective troubleshooting will ultimately also result in fewer truck rolls because front-line customer support agents will be much better equipped to resolve support issues, eero says. And eero expects that AI will increasingly become a transformative force for ISP operations.
“Our AI stack is uniquely positioned to tackle everything from tools for contact center agents, to fleet operations, to seamless integration. We will see AI transforming every layer of how ISPs serve their customers,” Ashwath Krishnan says.
