Wi-Fi technology is evolving fast and increasing in complexity – which also means the role of Wi-Fi testing is expanding. Wi-Fi testing is today more than ever a critical part of the R&D and quality assurance process for device vendors and service providers. A new eBook by Keysight offers important insights into the world of Wi-Fi 6 & 6E testing – read more here and download the ebook below.
Wi-Fi 6 is ‘mission critical’ for businesses and Wi-Fi 6E is a transformational opportunity for everyone working with Wi-Fi, says test platform vendors Keysight in their latest eBook ‘Deliver the Best of Wi-Fi 6 & Wi-Fi 6E’. The eBook delivers insights into the why and how of Wi-Fi 6/6E testing as testing becomes an increasingly hot topic across the industry.

Particularly service providers – for example home broadband ISPs – are dependent on great Wi-Fi for staying profitable. Poor Wi-Fi performance can lead to an avalanche of customer service calls and truck rolls, which in turn drive up operational costs. An important component in the resolution of this challenge is accurate testing before any deployments take place.
“Wi-Fi testing should not be an afterthought,” says Keysight, and they are right. Keysight says traditional chipset-based test tools are typically complex and don’t get close to replicating the myriads of real world Wi-Fi traffic, configuration, and load scenarios faced by ISPs. The better approach is to perform pre-deployment testing using a platform for simulated clients and include a full range of test conditions complete with various client-mix scenarios and representative loading.
The challenges are multiple: How will the AP react for example to frame errors? How will the system handle multiple generations of devices? How will the OFDMA scheduler perform and why? How does the system perform in a dense traffic environment? Keysight offers their advice on how to perform the most accurate and revealing Wi-Fi testing leading to higher quality Wi-Fi services.
And there’s no time to waste particularly in the development of Wi-Fi 6E solutions. Close to 800 devices have already been launched – but only few ISPs have deployed residential Wi-Fi 6E (four in Europe as of this week). Effective testing gives ISPs the tools they need to be confident that their Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E solutions will perform as expected and satisfy home broadband subscribers.
