Our first ever Wi-Fi World Congress in Latin America – and our first in-person event since November 2019 – attracted close to 300 delegates and featured more than 40 speakers as well as over 30 sponsors. Judging from the great atmosphere at the event, smiling faces, and all the positive feedback we’ve received, last week’s WWC Americas 2022 was a resounding success. Next stop Stockholm, Sweden on September 26-28.

The future of Wi-Fi industry looks very bright. Why, you ask? Well – of course this has a lot to do with Wi-Fi’s ubiquitous footprint and massive utility, great new high-performance standards, lots more spectrum, a quickly expanding ecosystem as well as many highly professional and strongly committed companies leading the industry forward. But more than anything this industry’s future will be defined by its people. And if last week’s Wi-Fi World Congress Americas in Cancún is any indication, the Wi-Fi industry is in very, very good shape as far as professionalism, passion, and commitment is concerned.

Close to 300 Wi-Fi professionals attended the event to network and engage with keynotes and panels headed up by the industry’s foremost leaders including speakers from Intel, Qualcomm, Plume, Wi-Fi Alliance, MediaTek, CommScope, Meta, Cisco, Calix, Cambium Networks, Izzi, Liberty Latin America, Juniper/Mist, and many more (see the full list here). We’re also delighted by the support offered to us by local managed services provider GigNet as well as Telecom Infra Project (TIP) OpenWiFi as our lead sponsor and lead partner, respectively.

The event above all reflected the huge amount of innovation and not least business opportunities being developed across the industry right now. We’re particularly delighted that so many Mexican and other Latin American delegates decided to join the event as well as for the support of many of our new Latin American sponsors such as SamaWiFi, Datawifi, Arara, SitWiFi, i-Free, and not least our Brazilian partners Mambo. Broad participation from Latin America is a testament to the importance of Wi-Fi across the region including a thriving ecosystem of vendors and service providers.

Last but not least a huge thanks to our service provider speakers and delegates including speakers from Liberty Latin America and Izzi. By popular demand – and I’m happy to say we’ve had many requests to this end – for the rest of the year we’re working extra hard towards supporting ISPs even more strongly through our ecosystem engagement and Wi-Fi NOW Academy training programs.

We’re big big Latin America fans – and we will certainly be back soon. Huge thanks to everyone who participated in WWC Americas in Cancún. Next stop for us is Stockholm, Sweden on September 26-28 – read more here.

/Claus.
